BIRTH AND DEATH SECTION
(Procedure controlled by the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969) (Central Act 18 of 1969)
(Note: The physical records of Births and Deaths held by the Offices of Civil Registrar-cum-Sub Registrars in Goa are transferred to Directorate of Achieves and Archeology for preservation).
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Birth records are uploaded on public domain and could be accessed through following url: https://goaonline.gov.in/
- The birth records could even be downloaded for information purpose by visiting https://goaonline.gov.in/ . However, if any Citizen wants to obtain an authentic copy of birth or death records same could be either applied online or party can visit any office of Civil Registrar-cum-Sub Registrar and apply for birth/death certificate or birth teor).
- The corrections in the Birth & Death records have to be applied in the respective office either online or physically.
- Procedure for correction of Birth and death records:
(1) Submit application for correction alongwith documentary proof to the concerned Registrar Office under section 15 of RBD Act either online or physical
(2) After the application is scrutinized and processed the correction is authorized and endorsement is recorded in the birth/death records in margin and entries are updated in the online system.
NON AVAILABILITY CERTIFICATE
If a birth/death of any party is not registered then the concerned person can obtain a non-availability certificate from the respective office by producing documentary proof, such as, school leaving certificate, etc., mentioned in such document that he/she was born in the respective jurisdiction.
NOTE: The Office of Civil Registrar-cum-Sub Registrar only issues birth/death certificates of the records available in their offices from the year 1914-1970 and does not register fresh birth or death.
Applicant has to approach local authority, i.e., Panchayat/Municipality for registration of birth/death.
